Landscape of Enslavement Tour

In honor of African American History Month, please join us at Travellers Rest for a special guided grounds tour: The Landscape of Enslavement. This guided outdoor tour focuses on the lives of those who were enslaved at Travellers Rest and those who lived and worked here post-emancipation. Led by Director of Interpretation, Chad Burgess, this 45 minute tour will discuss information about both enslaved and emancipated individuals that lived and worked at Travellers Rest during the 19th century.

The Landscape of Enslavement Tours will take place on February 25th at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. These are outdoor tours, so please dress accordingly for the weather. Should inclement weather require postponement of the program, we will communicate with ticket purchasers at least 12 hours prior to your tour start time.

In addition to the grounds tour, we invite all guests to enjoy a complimentary house tour either before or after their scheduled grounds tour. House tours take approximately 1 hour and will need to be scheduled prior to your chosen grounds tour. Please contact Andy Blair via email at andy@historictravellersrest.org to schedule your house tour as space is limited due to capacity limits in the historic home.
