Corporate Matching Gifts
Matching gifts are a great way to increase the value of your donation. Many businesses support the causes that their employees care about with dollar-for-dollar matching contributions. Some companies provide 2:1 and even 3:1 matches! Contact your human resources department before making your donation to see if your employer has a matching gift program.
Tributes & Memorials
Whether you are giving a celebratory, honorary, or memorial gift, a tribute is a thoughtful way of recognizing others while supporting our mission. A special note will be sent to the honoree or a designated family representative informing them that Travellers Rest has received a gift from you in their name.
When making tribute gifts please include the following information with your payment: Your name and address and the name and address of the honoree or a designated recipient.
You can honor that special person by giving online HERE (In the payment notes, please list the name and address of the honoree or a designated family representative so we can notify them of your gift. )
Corporate Support
Corporate support is crucial and provides an opportunity for corporations of all sizes to give back to the community by supporting this treasured community asset. Giving opportunities range from program and event sponsorships to major gift naming opportunities.
The 1799 Society
The 1799 Society recognizes those who have included Travellers Rest in their estate planning, providing gifts that extend beyond a lifetime. These special people are providing legacy gifts for the future – gifts that will sustain Travellers Rest Historic House Museum for coming generations.
You may become a member of the 1799 Society by notifying us that you have made a planned gift that benefits Travellers Rest Historic House Museum or that you have included Travellers Rest in a future bequest.
Membership is purely voluntary. If you choose to be recognized, we will include your name on the Travellers Rest Legacy Donor Wall and acknowledge you as a member of the 1799 Society. You will also be invited to special gatherings at Travellers Rest in appreciation of your generosity.
Planned Gifts: Preserving the Past for the Future
Did you know there are ways to support Historic Travellers Rest that won’t affect your current lifestyle or your family’s security? You can make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime, leaves your cash flow and current financial planning unchanged, and fulfills your personal philanthropic goals.
Known as “planned giving,” a gift of this nature can provide an immediate tax benefit to you, potential lifetime income for you and a loved one, plus long-term financial support to Historic Travellers Rest.
Thoughtfully done, planned giving can provide benefits to you and your loved ones, as well as to generations of future visitors to Travellers Rest.
While everyday gifts, like cash donations and special event ticket purchases, allow us to provide the unique visitor experiences that make Travellers Rest so special, planned gifts allow us to consider future needs and how to best address them.
Planned gifts, made through consideration of your total assets, can allow you to provide for your loved ones, and help assure that Travellers Rest remains at the forefront as a premier historical resource for generations to come. Utilizing assets such as life insurance policies, real estate and appreciated stocks as planned gifts can provide significant tax benefits to your heirs and your estate.
The easiest and most common way to make a planned gift is through a simple bequest in your will. Bequests also avoid federal estate taxes, which can take away a large percentage of your total estate.
There are many different types of bequests with varying tax implications. We urge you to always seek the advice of financial and legal professionals before making any planned giving commitments.
We would be delighted to arrange a private meeting if you would like to learn how you can make a lasting impact on our collections, exhibits, and programs through your planned gift. And please let us know if you have already included Travellers Rest in your estate plan, so that we can properly recognize your generosity.
All planned gift conversations are strictly confidential.
For more information about our planned giving program, including our Gift Acceptance Policy, please email Executive Director Katie O'Bryan at director@historictravellersrest.org or Director of Development Jenny Esler at jenny@historictravellersrest.org.
